Prof. Dr. Mathias Binswanger

Mathias Binswanger is Professor of Economics at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Olten and associate professor at the University of St. Gallen. Binswanger's research focuses on the areas of macroeconomics, financial market theory, environmental economics and research into the connection between happiness and income. He is the author of the bestsellers The Treadmills of Happiness (2006) and Pointless Competitions (2010). His latest book is called "Money from Nothing" (2015). According to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung ’s economist influence ranking, Mathias Binswanger has been one of the most influential economists in Switzerland for years and was the most frequently cited source of inspiration by politicians in 2019.
